A Note from Jan Cornelius
The owners of Yarn Lady have asked me tell you a little about myself, so here I go...
In 2005 I joined the teaching staff at the original Yarn Lady, having recently moved to Laguna Hills from Deerfield, Illinois. I had been teaching silk painting, knitting, and crocheting in the Chicago area for over thirty-five years. My husband and I, three dogs, and one cat are now enjoying California living and the opportunity to spend time with our two grown daughters.
My passion is yarn, color, and teaching. I am thrilled to be part of the all-new and wonderful Yarn Lady and to be with friends, old and new. I have continued to learn about knitting and crochet for many years through extensive reading and attending workshops and master classes. Beginning students to advanced--both knitters and crocheters -- will receive plentiful help in class and individual attention in a private lesson. I will gladly work with you on any project you choose.
When at home I am busy dyeing Yarn Lady exclusive yarns, writing patterns with daughter Jen, who sometimes teaches with me, and preparing for upcoming workshops. I never can learn enough and find I learn something new from my wonderful students every day.
And now to share a little of my teaching philosophy: If you are a little scared, I will try to make you feel at ease. If your project is all mixed up, I will do my best to untangle it. Working with yarn is not just a hobby; it is a special place to go whenever you need a calm, quiet moment. My ultimate goal in teaching is that you will finally be able to say, "I can do that myself!"
Please call or email with any questions you may have. I am happy to talk to you or set up a private lesson at your convenience.
