If you're a fan of Rowan
Yarns or are wondering what all the fuss is about, then you will
want to be sure to come to our first
Rowan Yarn Tasting, on Tuesday February 28th! This is where a representative from Rowan Yarns
comes and brings us a "taste" of their finest yarns. You can
come and sample these yarns to try them out before you buy them!
This
is your chance to try them with different needle sizes for a effect (you
must bring your own needles). You can use a variety of stitches and
color combinations. This is your chance to sit with fellow yarn
enthusiasts and experiment. Our Yarn Tastings are very popular and sell
out fast. So don't miss out! RESERVE YOUR SPACE NOW... Click here to sign-up now for: "ROWAN

I can't believe it's already time for another Fashion
Show!!! This time we will be welcoming Fayla Reiss along with
Barry to co-emcee the show for us... You've probably been knitting from
Fayla's patterns without knowing much about her. You
will love meeting her! I have never seen Fayla where she wasn't just a
ball of excitement and energy, almost jumping out of her skin with new
ideas and projects. I know she loves to go to Barry's warehouse so she
can find yarns to PLAY with. Fayla has a great sense for color and the
very fashionable feminine side of things. Come and meet her!
Besides
seeing all of the fashion that we would like to show you, please
remember that there is also THE most important
part of this show that allows YOU to show US what you have done. We
really look forward to that and are always inspired by you! As
always we have asked around for great prizes to give away as our door prizes.
All
of this and a wonderful dinner and a Gift Certificate from our store for
one admission prize! Treat yourself and bring a friend!

New Yarns:
It seems
like we have just returned from our weekend at the Tradeshow and from many
meetings with yarn reps where we bought, bought, bought the new yarns.
Many of them are already arriving at our doors (?nel?on@pa??ell.ne?) and Clayle has his hands
full looking for room to put them. Be sure to click on the links above
to see just a few of the treats that are in (the)
store for you!
Since
felting is so very popular, I wanted to draw your attention again to our
recent newsletters (October/05
and September/05)
dealing with felting just to refresh your memory. The new Pursenality
Plus book lists many new colors of Cascade 220 and we want
you to know that we have them in stock and ready for you to buy! Besides
these new colors, we have a huge variety of their other colors of 220 in
stock as well as their popular yarn Pastaza. They are not online yet,
but do call the store and speak with Janice with any questions or to
order.

New
Books:
The last couple of years
have been so exciting! Everyone, it seems, has learned to knit! From
young school children who are taught by their teachers in school, to men
who get together in groups to knit and are even mentioned on TV, to us
"old" knitters who love the fact that knitting is now popular.
Rumor has it that crocheting is not far behind and that this will be the
new wave. If you happen to crochet and subscribe to Discover magazine,
you will find a big article on crocheting in the March 2006 issue.
So what's next - now that everyone has made a scarf? Here are just
a few of the many new books which will let you explore new horizons and
help you add even more pizzazz to your wardrobe.

Barry
Klein and Fayla Reiss, in their first joint book venture:
"Knitovation",
have made it very easy for the beginner knitter and inspirational for
the advanced knitter. The idea is that we know how to make a square or a
rectangle. There's no shaping involved here. They also include a
triangle which involves just a very simple increase or decrease.
Out of these simple shapes come classy cardigans, great ponchos,
glamorous shawls, hats, gloves and purses. There are boleros and tank
tops, and... well you get the idea. You will love the projects presented
here and I know that it will get your mind going to come with up your
ideas of what to do when you start with a rectangle... Read
what the publishers had to say about this book!
As you know, "Pursenality"
has been a run-away best seller...
We can't hardly keep it in stock.
Felting is ever so popular. We now have the sequence to it, "Pursenality
Plus" in stock and ready and waiting for you! Please
remember that although we don't yet have Cascade 220 on our site we do
have a huge inventory of it in our store including the colors that are
used in Pursenality Plus.
For those of you who love to work with color, you won't want to miss
Sally Melville's new "Book
3: Color". The publisher writes: "The closest thing
to a knitting coach, this primer on knitting describes simple approaches
to choosing, using, and wearing color." We're sure you'll get
alot from this book!!

And, for those of you who love
Rowan yarn and patterns, and who love
stylish and classic designs, please check out all of the Rowan
Pattern Books we have in stock!

New Accessories:
Remember when there were only just a few accessories to go along with
your basic set of needles? Well, now that knitting and crocheting are so
popular, everyone is coming up with great new "must-have"
gadgets and of course, lots of bags and totes and baskets to carry them
in. Keep checking our Events
page for news of a special Trunkshow just for this.
Remember,
just like you need a variety of tools for any task on your job or in
your kitchen, you will benefit from having just the right tool when you
knit and crochet. You spend many hours at this, so treat yourself to the
right tool. I used to do all of my knitting on ADDI circular needles and
still think that they are the finest slick needles on the market. But
because of scarves there seem to be more wooden needles around and I
find knitting with short wooden needles a real pleasure. It depends largely, I guess, on the
project and on the yarn. I remember knitting with a yarn once and
absolutely hating it. Then I thought to change to a different needle and
suddenly the yarn was a pleasure to work with. So do experiment!

And now for my closing thoughts...
Have you ever had Foot-in-Mouth disease? I've had
a major case of it just recently. It's when you open your mouth and
out comes stuff that should have never left the barn. And when it's
out, there is just no way to get it back in. My brother told me
today that he had heard that life is a series of brush strokes. An
event like this leaves a heavy stroke which will take many strokes
of a different color to cover up. In the end, hopefully, a more
beautiful picture will emerge.
When it comes to writing this newsletter there is
always so much to say that I probably get way too long winded. (BTW,
I would love to have feedback from YOU as to what you would like to
read about in our letters.)

As I write this, I am again with my
mother and again feel that this will be my last goodbye when I leave
here next week. What is it that I should say to HER that I don't
want to leave unsaid? Nothing matters but that last expression of
love...
Words.... they can tear you down or lift you up...
14) How, then, can they call
on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the
one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone
preaching to them? 15) And how can they preach
unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the
feet of those who bring good news!"[a]
