Saturday,
June 3rd from 8 am to 3 pm, come rain or shine, we will be trucking in
tons of new yarn for our Semi-Annual
Bag Sale. Yarns from Anny Blatt, Tahki/Stacy Charles, Berroco and
Trendsetter as well as other special purchases will fill our bins for
your delight and amazement. We have spent the last several months buying
yarns and preparing bags of mixed colorways in addition to the usual ten
balls of the same yarn to a bag. Hand picked yarns of different colors,
textures, manufacturers, etc. are blended together for you to make
inspiring projects or to use along with your left over stashes. Don't
miss out! Once the day is over, the yarn goes away until the next bag
sale in December!
Cherie and Niqua are going to market in Indianapolis right after the Bag
Sale to look at and purchase goodies for Fall. We really appreciate any
comments, requests, or ideas that you may have regarding items that you
would like to see Yarn Lady carry. Email
us or let Nancy know when you visit us in the store.
This month, we held our first Lantern Moon Trunk Show. We were
blessed to have two representatives join us and give us a sneak preview
of the rosewood and ebony circular needles as well as great bags that
many wanted to use for going on a cruise, or a visit to the beach or
that special event like a graduation or wedding.

Speaking of special events, have you seen our unique line of
jewelry? We have sterling silver bracelets from Skacel, knitting charms
from Country Trunk, beaded necklaces handmade by Janet (which could also be
used as purse handles for your beautiful felted bags) and unique
necklaces with a German influence handmade by Beate.
All these can be
viewed in our glass cases by the registers. One of our employees will be
happy to assist you with these great one-of-a-kind treasures. These
would make great gifts for that special knitter in your life!
With the rising gas prices, we all know how important it is to
maximize each trip carefully. So, grab a friend and make a trip to Yarn
Lady to stock up on yarn and other goodies at our Bag Sale. You can also
shop online and
remember that shipping is FREE on orders over $50 (Continental
United States).
Comments From Gaby: YIKES!! It's almost Bag Sale time
again!!

A bunch of us have been down to our storage units going over all of our
yarns and opening box after box of new yarns. It's like Christmas and we
can't wait to see what's in the next box! Niqua and Cherie have gone
plum crazy ordering yarns. As you know from the past, we bag these yarns
up (often 10 balls per bag) and then you get to buy the whole bag but
for HALF the marked price! With gas prices being what they are right
now, I know you'll appreciate the savings!
We
will have bags and bags of wonderful yarns in our famous
"Playpen" as well as on racks. Normally we only have
discontinued yarns but this time there are even some current yarns. Now
this is such a big event, we had to get a city permit to have it and
luckily we wrote it into our lease so we were sure to have permission.
Remember that there is plenty of parking behind the furniture store as
well (click
here for directions).
I've left the biggest news for last: Besides our regular bags, we
have been very busy putting together color packs for you.

We know that all of your projects don't call for all of the
same color yarn and that often times you may need a little help with
putting colors together. Well, do we have the color packs for YOU!! I
went down and created a number of bins and emptied bag after bag into
them according to their color. Wendy and Beate are great with colors and
they are working many hours right now, pulling these colors and making
special color packs. I know you will love them!!
I've seen lots of things at the stores showing stripes and
textures and multi colors. You can let your imagination go wild and
start thinking in terms of belts, purses, tank tops, afghans, pillows,
funky sleeves, shawls and who knows what else!
These bags will have 10 balls of 50g each (there might be a few
that would have a ball that is 25g). (?oymar?e?0@ho?mail.com) We did not pay any attention to
yardage and one bag may or may not complete a whole project. That would
depend on what you're making. In some cases you might want to look at
our thin mohair and run that along the whole project and then just
alternate with the colors from the pack. Or you might want to go through
your stash and use that to add to this. Some bags contain thinner yarns
as well as thicker yarns. If you are using them consecutively, you might
want to consider doing a drop stitch when you come to the thicker yarns,
just to even things out. (A drop stitch is where you do a yarn over
between each stitch on one row and then drop the yarn over on the next
row.) If you don't know it, ask. We'll show you!
If
you have seen Prism
STUFF you know that they add a bit of Eyelash with some of their
thinner yarns for drama and texture and to even out the gauge. There is
a great side-to-side little sweater in one of the new magazines that
would be just perfect for using different textures.
Oh, you just have to see these packs and your imagination will go
soaring!!

And now for my closing thoughts...
 Since
Cherie
and Niqua
are taking over the running of the store more and more, I thought I
should share with my daughter (Niqua) again what is important to me
and what I feel has made our store different from many others. As I
was pouring out my heart to her, she said: "Mom, you need to
put that in the newsletter!"
I told her how in the old store I used to stand at the top of the
stairs (when the store was closed) and pray for all who would enter
and for our employees and for our business in general. I prayed for
protection and wisdom. Mia, our long-term, faithful manager would
come in and pray again. We have always felt that our store was a
place to come to fellowship with other fiber enthusiasts and to feel
comfortable and be a part of an extended "family". As one
of our ladies once put it: "You can drop in for a cup of tea
with your friends and you don't even have to call first".
I
have many happy memories of sitting in the rain in front of the
store with a friend and looking for rainbows and of many hugs and
tears and much laughter. Many things have happened to our customers
as well as staff; both good and difficult and I'm so happy that we
are there for one another for support and prayer.
I asked Niqua to never forget this most important and
rewarding part of our business.
3)Praise be to the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all
comfort, 4)who comforts us in all our
troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the
comfort we ourselves have received from God.
