Yarn Lady was born from a dream.

Some 18 years ago, owners "Dutch" and "Gaby" Monson dreamt of selling cheap yarn at an outdoor Swapmeet near Disneyland, CA. It didn't take long before they found out they could never be cheap enough and that folks, even at a Swapmeet, were looking for fancy and unusual yarns.

They soon started carrying Eyelash and many novelty yarns to the delight of those who frequented this outdoor market. "YARN!!!!!!!!" they exclaimed like someone who had been deprived!

For the next 13 years, Dutch and Gaby built a store full of the finest in yarns with a high emphasis on novelty yarns. Trendsetter, Prism, Anny Blatt, Filatura di Crosa, S Charles, Muench, Skacel, Cascade, Plymouth are only some of the brands you will find. They recently moved to a new location with 3750 square feet!

"We never thought we could fill all this space," says Gaby. Customers find it very relaxing to shop because there is plenty of room to browse and take it all in.

You will find inspiration galore in all the model garments throughout the store. Customers are free to try them on to see how they will look on them!

There are several table groupings for classes or for free help or special design consultations or for just plain visiting. "You can drop in for a cup of tea and a visit with you friends and you don't even have to call first!". Husbands (or wives) can sit in a comfortable chair sipping coffee

There is a huge library of books and magazines and pattern leaflets and you will also find books sprinkled between the many displays.

You can't knit or crochet without the proper tools. Yarn Lady carries needles and hooks in all sizes. If you need buttons or pursehandles you will find a great selection of those as well.
There are sections for all things "Baby"
as well as stylish things for children.
There is a section for socks and special workshops to teach how to make them. There are kits to make selection easier.

Besides holding classes every day by their own teachers, Yarn Lady also brings in visiting teachers, designers and authors for special workshops.

Besides sponsoring the local County Fairs with $50.00 and $100.00 Gift Certificates for the Best of Show, Yarn Lady schedules special Trunkshows and Monday and Friday Night Knit-Ins at the store. "We want to make this a fun and educational place for people to be. You can always get inspired and you can always learn," says Gaby. Yarn Lady also contributes to groups who teach young kids to knit.

Twice a year, there is a big event outside the store. Yarn Lady's Famous Bag Sale. Discontinued yarns are sold by the bag at half the marked price. Customers love the opportunity to get first grade, name brand yarns at great prices to stretch their yarn buying dollar.
Dutch and Gaby have traveled across the country for the last few years, bringing their yarns to TKGA and Stitches Shows. Mail orders come in from all over the country as well as abroad. Computers in the backroom help the staff at Yarn Lady keep track of it all.

Gaby keeps in touch with everyone via her monthly e-mail Newsletter and via Yarn Lady's website. A webmaster keeps the site fresh and up to date and makes shopping "in your pajamas" as easy as point and click! Check them out at http://www.yarnlady.com

Knitters and crocheters come in all shapes and sizes, ages and genders and they're all excited about the fabulous new yarns on the market today.

"God has given us a special place," says Dutch, " where people can come and pursue a craft that gives them many hours of therapy and pleasure and rewards them with the sense of accomplishment which comes from creating a one-of-a-kind work of art."
