Yarn Tasting
(not wine tasting)
Workshop
July 19th, 2005!
We almost cancelled our second Yarn Tasting because we were afraid that not enough people would be interested. Were we ever wrong!!! We had three tables full of ladies who came out to taste many of our new yarns. We know that yarn is expensive and how will you really know what you will want to buy this season unless you have a chance to "taste" it!?

Barry Klein made himself available and it was his idea to set the tables with paper plates and needles and serve the yarn on the plates. All that was missing were the napkins and the candles....and of course the wine...(don't want to be responsible for anyone leaving the store tipsy...)

The idea was to knit with one yarn and try different needle sizes and stitches and then change seats (or plates) with your neighbors and try another yarn. This gave folks the opportunity to try yarns they had never tried before and to see what a difference changing your needle size or your stitches can make.

During the break, Barry invited everyone into a circle and he held a mini Fashion Show (with the help of some volunteer models) where he showed us the new line of sweaters that were made out of all the wonderful yarns we were tasting. We saw again how different a sweater looks in person versus in a pattern and Barry gave us many new ideas.

Pssssst: We are holding another Yarn Tasting at Yarn Lady!!
